A Family Fun Day is taking place at Bushy Park from 1 pm to 4 pm on Saturday 8th September. The event is organised by the Terenure 2030 Together for Tomorrow group.

As part of the activities Bushy Park Tennis & Padel Club will open its doors to visitors to try out padel and tennis between 1 pm and 4 pm. There will be coaches on site to encourage players to take part in the fun tennis and padel activities organised.

We will also have an information stand for visitors to introduce them to our Club.

The Club is organising an TENNIS OPEN DAY and the main event will bet an attempt to beat the Guinness World Record of continuous tennis coaching for 48 hours starting on Friday 14th September at 9.30 am and going on until Sunday 16th September at 9.30 am. 

Leo Parra, our Head Coach, will be coaching players non-stop for 2 days! We wish him the best with this amazing venture.

The Guinness World Record attempt will be monitored by cameras and timers and it will also be happening overnight. 

We need Club members and other players to get involved in the record attempt by putting their names down for an hour´s coaching by Leo. The list is in the Clubhouse but you can send us an email requesting a specific time whether it is during the day or during the night time.

There is no specific fee for an hour´s coaching, but the minimum amount will be 10 euro (you may decide to pay more if you wish). The proceeds of the event will be donated to the National Children´s Hospital in Crumlin.

The event is organised by the Bushy Park Tennis Academy and it is part of an Open Day supported by Tennis Ireland.

The All Ireland Padel Open Championship will take place on Saturday 15th and Sunday 16th September 2018 and it is open to everyone in all categories.

All Clubs may organise preliminary rounds of the tournament prior to the All Ireland Championship but this is not a requirement to register and play for your club.

The categories for the tournament are BEGINNER, INTERMEDIATE and ADVANCED. Both men, both women and mixed category allowed.

The format of the preliminary tournaments in all clubs is as follows:

-Matches to be played to the best of 2 sets (with super tiebreak).
-Players can only represent one club and not be playing on other preliminary rounds in other clubs.
-The top three teams from each category will go through to the finals of the All Ireland.
-The top three teams will receive the winning prizes in each club.

The format of the All Ireland Finals is as follows:

-Matches will be played to the best of 9 games. Semifinal and final will be played to the best of two sets with super tiebreak.
-Prizes for the top 3 teams in each category: trophies and padel gear vouchers.

RULES OF PLAY

All the rules of padel and disciplinary code apply for this tournament under the International Padel Federation regulations and as stated by the Padel Federation of Ireland. Please look up the following link for further information: http://www.padelfederation.ie/padel-federation/padel-rules/

The tournament is organised by the Padel Federation of Ireland for all clubs in Ireland and Northern Ireland.

Please book your place in the club league league preliminary rounds with your club before the end of August 2018.

Registration for the All Ireland Padel Open Championship must be made before the 12th September.

The Spanish tennis Way. This workshop is for both male and female coaches, players & parents and is the first one of its kind to come to Ireland.

The workshop is both practical and theoretical whereby players will have the opportunity to get on with Ruben and learn some of the Spanish secret drills as used by the top Tennis athletes and coaches of the students can watch and take back the exercises & drills to their own academies and clubs.

Schedule for the day

On Saturday August 4th, former Irish ATP Pro & Davis Cup Player from MacXTennisAcademy, John McGahon will collaborate with TOP 50 ATP Pro Ruben Hidalgo from Spain and the Spanish Tennis Way to run a workshop in Bushy Park Tennis & Padel Club, Dublin.

This workshop will show how successful Nations and players have made it in this ruthless game and provide an insight of the training, environment and competition that led to countless ATP Champions.

Our Summer Camps will run for the whole month of July from 9.30 am to 2 pm Monday to Friday.

Term and Conditions Bushy Park Summer Camp

1. No Provisional bookings will be taken. Places can only be secured on receipt of completed form and payment.

2. Places will be filled on a first come first served basis.

3. A Parent/guardian must sign the application form.

4. All medical conditions must be clearly stated on the application form.

5. Children must bring a packed lunch, rain gear and sun cream each day.

6. The hours of the camp are 9.30 am-2.00pm each day.

7. Bushy Park Tennis & Padel Club are not responsible for children outside of the above hours.

8. Bushy Park Tennis & Padel Club does not accept responsibility for the loss or damage to any property belonging to the participants.

9. Bushy Park Tennis & Padel Club reserves the right to cancel part of/or the entire programme with all payments refunded.

10. All valuables must be left at home.

11. Information of activities is given in good faith. All arrangements and activities are subject to change depending on weather condition, programme schedule and other arrangements. Bushy Park Tennis & Padel Club has the right to cancel amend or alter activities accordingly.

12. Bushy Park Tennis & Padel Club will keep a current insurance policy for the duration of the Summer Camp.

13. If a child is unable to attend a full refund will be given if 7 days’ notice or a doctor’s note is given.

14. Lost property will be kept until August 31st 2018.

15. Bushy Park Tennis & Padel Club reserves the right to suspend any child that is disruptive to the camp due to misbehaviour or whose behaviour puts them or others at risk.

16. Mobile phones are not permitted at camp.

17. I/We consent to the use of any photographs that may be taken of our child during the camp to be used, distributed or shown as Bushy Park Tennis & Padel Club sees appropriate. THE BUHSY PARK TENNIS & PADEL CLUB will gather and process personal data in order to carry out its function and to fulfil its legal basis as an organisation bringing the padel game to the country and regulating all aspects of the sport. Depending on the particular circumstances, we may collect and hold a range of different information about you. This can include your name, date of birth (minors), address, email address, phone number, nationality (where relevant), PPS number, medical data (where relevant) and financial information (where relevant e.g. staff or subcontractors). The Padel Federation of Ireland ran their first two coaches course for TCI members last year The courses were a great success – here are some words from a TCI member who attended: “I really enjoyed the Padel course. It was definitely a worthwhile way of advancing my skill set and adapting my tennis coaching skills to the world of Padel”.

Given the success of the first couple of courses, The Padel Federation in cooperation with TCI has now scheduled a third course to allow coaches who missed out the first time to get involved. The syllabus for this course has been specially developed to take into account the skills tennis coaches already possess, thus saving time and money for those coaches who are contemplating getting involved in Padel.

COURSE DATES: Sun 10th and Sun 17th June 2018.

COURSE TIMES: 1st Sunday 10 am to 4 pm, 2nd Sunday 10 am to 4 pm.

COURSE VENUE: Bushy Park Tennis & Padel Club, Terenure.

COURSE TUTOR: Colin O’Brien. A former Irish Davis Cup player, Colin is currently teaching tennis and Padel. He is certified by the Spanish and European Padel Federations.

COURSE FEES: The full cost of the course and assessment process is €250. The course normally runs for 15 hours, and costs €500, so this specific tennis coaches course represents significant savings.

In 2016 Tennis Coach Ireland carried out a survey of our member’s attitude to the game of Padel Tennis. At our last National Conference, Colin O’Brien and Joe Cabello of the Padel Federation of Ireland gave a presentation on Padel. We had very positive responses to both the survey and the presentation – many members were keen to get involved in Padel. TCI’s main priority as regards Padel is that our members are in a position of strength should the game come to your club or area.
